Music Director - Emily Singh
Emily Singh is a Scottish-Guyanese conductor and recent graduate of the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama where she studied under David Jones. She is passionate about bringing people together through inclusive and inspiring music-making.
Emily’s work spans both orchestral and operatic repertoire. Recent highlights include a showcase with the Orchestra of Welsh National Opera, staging the Welsh premiere of Handel’s ‘La resurrezione’ for which she co-authored a new score with English translation, and performances of Bruckner’s Symphony No.7 and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 uniting local choirs and orchestras across South Wales at Llandaff Cathedral. This year Emily was selected for the inaugural British Youth Opera Conductors’ Programme, contributing to acclaimed performances of Britten’s Peter Grimes at Saffron Walden and Cadogan Hall. She has participated in specialist training programmes with leading conductors and pedagogues, including the Royal Academy of Music’s Women Conductors Programme with Sian Edwards and Alice Farnham.
Emily strongly believes in the power of music to spark connection and creativity, creating lasting bonds for performances and audience alike. She is delighted to be working with the new Beacons Orchestra championing this ethos.
